UK shadow education secretary wants to license teachers

The Labour Party are putting forward plans to license teachers in an effort to raise standards in schools. Tristram Hunt is asking the new Royal College of Teaching to oversee the assessments. Its a sign of how the Labour party hopes to “outflank” the education secretary, Michael Gove, on teaching standards.

“Teachers would have to show they are meeting the high standards and would be required to undergo training to update their skills.”
